Shrek 2: (Flick’s Review)
Posted on | May 25, 2010 | 2 Comments
Shrek is back! This time he’s getting married to Fiona. Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona go to Far Far Away to get the blessing of the King and Queen. The new bad guys are The Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming who was supposed to rescue Fiona from the Dragon. Shrek 2 is my favorite of the Shrek franchise because I like meeting all the new characters including Puss in Boots who teams up with Shrek and Donkey to battle Prince Charming and the Fairy godmother (other characters that did not appear in Shrek 1). My favorite character is Shrek ( Mike Miyers) because he always saves the day. My favorite part is when Shrek, Donkey, and Puss go into the potion factory/Fairy Godmother’s lair. I rate the movie PG for action, rude humor, and mild langauge.
MPAA: Rated PG for some crude humor, a brief substance reference and some suggestive content.

Mixed Reviews For Shrek Forever After
Posted on | May 24, 2010 | Add Comments
We’re looking forward to Shrek Forever After. Some critics are not. Predictably it’s the last Shrek film says all the news. The Providence Journal gives the film two stars. The New York Times thinks the film is the darkest Shrek (yet.) I have not seen the film yet but despite all the reviews I will still see it because I liked the other Shrek movies.
Around the world in 80 days (Flack’s Review)
Posted on | May 22, 2010 | 2 Comments
Rating: 4.5
This movie is about the Englishman Phileas Fogg who bets 20,000 pounds he can travel around the world in 80 days. While Phileas Fogg travels around the world with his servant Passepatout they rescue the princess Aouda. But after being attacked by Indians, encountering a broken railroad, and meeting an evil detective it is uncertain if they will make it around the world in 80 days!
My favorite part is when Phileas Fogg and Passepatout get attacked by Indians in New York because I like the action, suspense, and music during this scene.
My favorite character is Passapatout. He is funny in the circus when he holds the clowns who are balancing but lets go and they all fall down.
I rate it PG for a scene of violence, romance and some adult themes.
The MPAA rating is G.

Movie magazines!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted on | May 10, 2010 | Add Comments
Soon (thanks to our grandfather) we will be getting a subscription to Entertainment Weekly, a movie magazine. It is not only about movies though; they also talk about music, TV, video games and books. Some of the best movie Entertainment Weekly’s have been about the Oscars, the 2010 Alice in Wonderland, and ninety-six new Summer movies.
On Saturday I bought a magazine called Empire at Borders, which is only about movies, movies and movies. I like it a little better than Entertainment Weekly. This issue of Empire is about summer movies. There are 3 main articles about Robin Hood, Ironman 2, and Prince of Persia. There’s a crossword puzzle, movie reviews and some DVD reviews. You might not find it at most magazine shops because it’s from England.
Empire is 162 pages and Entertainment Weekly is only about 100, so Empire has many more articles and facts. Entertainment Weekly obviously comes out weekly and Empire comes out Monthly.
Tim Burton: The MOMA Exhibition
Posted on | May 10, 2010 | Add Comments
4 stars
This Tim Burton exhibition (closed April 26, 2010) shows drawings from his past and a few shorts and commercials he made. There is also a room devoted to the real movie props from his films. For example things from BeetleJuice, Planet of the Apes, Ed Wood, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and more. It does not have things from Alice in Wonderland because the exhibition came out before the film did. In the gift shop they have a book of Alice in Wonderland for sale.
I liked learning about Tim Burton more even though I already knew a lot about him and had already seen and loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland and parts of Edward Scissorhands.
I liked the movie aritfacts in this exhibit. I especially liked the Batman masks and the Edward Scissorhand life size model. I also liked the screen with the Tim Burton commercials. There was one with a guy who had watches and he started kicking people in the faces and also one where people took their heads off and they had skeleton heads. I liked his sculptures alot. I liked them because I liked learning the history of how he made commercials and learning about Tim Burton himself.
I think this photo is from the opening of the exhibition. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, and Danny DeVito pose for this photo. Someday soon I would love to meet them in person.
