Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (Dylan’s Review)
Posted on | March 7, 2010 | Add Comments

This movie is about Alice who falls down a Rabbit Hole into Underland. Where she meets the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, a smoking Catepillar, a Red Queen, a White Queen, a fire breathing dragon and other strange creatures. She must battle through Underland in this action comedy fantasy, based on the original Lewis Carol books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
My favorite character is the Mad Hatter, because he is funny.

My favorite part is when Alice fights the Jabberwocky because it’s action.
I rate this movie PG for fantasy violence, scary sequences, and oddness.
Rated PG for fantasy action/violence involving scary images and situations, and for a smoking caterpillar.
I did not see it in 3-D, although I wish I had.

Julie and Julia (Dylans’ review)
Posted on | February 7, 2010 | Add Comments

This movie is about Julie Powell who decides to make all 524 recipes in 365 days from Julia Child’s Mastering the art of french cooking. As she makes the recipes she does some fantastic things like make a blog about her cooking and makes some yummy food. She also does some not so great things like get in an argument with her husband and mess up a lot of food.

This movie is also about Julia Child who makes her cook books with Simone Beck. My faviorite charachter is Julie because she is funny and she is in my faviorite part. My faviorite part is when Julie cooks the lobster and it flies out of the pot.

Oscar nominations: good ones and fantastic ones!!!

This years’ Oscar nominations were surprising; The Secret of Kells, UP, Princess and the Frog, Coraline, and the one I hope wins, Fantastic Mr. Fox are the animation nominations.

Some other good nominations are Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for best cinematography. Star Trek for makeup, sound editing, and visual effects. Meryl Streep was nominated for Julie and Julia for best actress in a leading role. George Clooney got a nomination for best actor in a leading role in Up in the Air. He was also Fantastic Mr. Fox in Fantastic Mr. Fox. Up in the Air was also nominated for best picture, best director, two actresses in a supporting role, and adapted screen play. UP also got nominations in addition to best animated film for best original screnplay, original score, sound editing and most surprising best picture! Avatar got nominations for best picture, director, art direction, cinematography, film editing, original score, sound editing, sound mixing, and visual effects. Sherlock Holmes got nominated for art direction and original score.

I wish I could see Julie & Julia, Up in the Air, Avatar, Star Trek, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and most of all Sherlock Holmes. I think they are appropriate for me except my parents do not agree.
The Oscars: 10 Best Pictures

In the Providence Journal I read an article about the Oscars. It said instead of five best picture nominations there will be ten this year. But they said only five will really matter. Read the article here.
The full list of nominees for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be announced on February 2nd.

This movie, based on a comic book and TV show, is about Batman and Robin. When they find out The Riddler, Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin, and a band of pirates have joined forces, Batman and Robin go on adventure like no other. In this adventure they find out Catwoman is a spy. In action scenes and funny sequences Batman and Robin fulfill their adventure with the help of Albert, their helper.

My favorite part is at the end when Batman and Robin fight The Riddler, Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin, and the pirates in a sword fight and a punching fight on a boat because I like the action and the animated action words printed on the screen like “BOOM”, “KAPOW”, “OUCH”, “KERPLOP”, and “SPLOSH”.
My favorite character is Robin, the boy wonder because I like his suit and when he is in action sequences because he is brave, he saves people and he is cool. He is my favorite Superhero and I even dressed up as Robin for fun adventures at home.
MPAA Raing: Rated PG
My rating is PG for mild violence and action scenes, romance, a bad word, and explosions. This is not as violent as the new Batman movies at all. This is appropriate for ages 5 and up. This may have too much action for some kids, parents judge for yourself.
